GPSR and EU/NI Customers

Hello wonderful people,

Today we need to share some important and pretty pants news with our amazing community in the EU and Northern Ireland.

You may have heard whispers in the small business realm about some new regulations that will affect us starting next month. The General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) are set to come into play on December 13th. This has been in the works for a while, but many small businesses, including ours, are just now realising the significant impact these changes will have.

Here’s the gist: Beginning December 13th, we will no longer be able to ship our beloved children’s  products to customers in the EU and Northern Ireland.

To explain further, these new regulations are updating older safety standards to ensure that all products sold within the EU comply with modern safety requirements. While we wholeheartedly support the goal of safety, the new rules require us to implement several compliance measures, including updated safety information and labels.

This are clearly very happy to do this, but the major hurdle we face is that any business selling products must appoint an Authorised Representative in the EU/NI. This representative ensures that our products meet the necessary compliance standards. Unfortunately, we lack the resources and funds to meet this requirement (it’s about (£150 per product, per time you send it?!?), and the potential fines for non-compliance are daunting. This means that, along with many other small businesses in the UK, we will be unable to provide our cherished resources to our customers in the EU and Northern Ireland.

This change affects our digital products as well.

**What does this mean for our community?**

We are truly saddened by this news. We have built meaningful connections with our customers in Europe, translating our English boards to your languages because I know how important they are in your homes. It breaks our hearts that we can no longer share our mindfulness tools and children’s visuals with you.

Starting December 6th, our website will stop accepting orders from the EU and Northern Ireland. If any orders come through after that date, we will unfortunately have to cancel and refund them. This policy will also extend to our Etsy shop. We hope that Etsy will implement some support measures for sellers during this transition

I still feel like it’s a bit of a bad dream, and I remain hopeful that there may be changes to these regulations! We will keep you informed of any updates.

Sending all our love and support to you during this time, and let’s keep our hopes high for a positive resolution…

Warm wishes,
Kim and the Craftly team x
